"I want to give a present to St. Petersburg," Plushenko said. He is working on his artistry more, getting help from Kyrill Simonov, a star of the Kirov Ballet of St. Petersburg, Russia.

Plushenko was far superior with his program that had a quadruple toe loop jump and eight triples. He had a small mistake on another quad toe loop and did not show a quad salchow that he had working on in practice.

"It is not ready yet. In Russia I have also done a quad lutz and quad flip," Plushenko said.

"It is something new for me. I have great people working with me," Plushenko said. "I just feel new again."

The 20-year-old Plushenko long has been criticized for his lack of artistry. So he is working on his presentation to go along with his top jumping ability. He easily completed a quad-triple combination but his arm movements in his stepwork were different.

"I don't compete against anybody. I just want to compete for myself and do well," Plushenko said. "It was what I did in the past and will continue to do in the future."

フリーの使用曲についてジェーニャが以前ロシアのフィギュアスケート雑誌『Figure Skating』で次のように答えていました。

"The free program is to the music by Igor Korneliuk, the composer from St Petersburg. The program is dedicated to my city and is a present to its residents for the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg"

Igor Korniliuk (イーゴリ・コルネリュク)
作曲家。40歳。国立レニングラード音楽学院卒業。
100以上の曲をロシアの歌手に作り、本人も歌手としても活動。
２つの交響曲、その他多くの室内楽や合唱曲、映画音楽やミュージカルの楽曲なども手掛けている。
