The kingdoms therefore saw the need for building a defense system on their northem border, the forerunner of the famous Great Wall.
The king of Qin conquered all six states in 221 B.C. and unified China.
He had the walls of the Yan, Zhao and Qin kingdoms connected and extended.
It began in Linzhao in the west and ended in Liaodong Penisula in the east.
Thus the legendary Great Wall was created.
