OSECHI ***Traditional food for the New Year***

NAMASU---
Thin slices of radish,carrots mixed with a medium-sized gizzard shad with vinegar and sugar.
TAZUKURI & SAKURAEBI---
Roasted shrimps and dried young anchovies seasoned with sugar and soy sauce.
NISIME---
Vegetables stewed in soy sauce, ricewine and sugar and so on.
KUROMAME---
Black soybeans stewed
in soy sauce aud sugar.
KURIKINTON---
A mixture of sweetpotatoessieved and seasoned with sugar, syrup and chestnuts.
OSECHI is Japanese traditional food prepared for the family and guests on New Year's Day. It includes many types of dishes as these pictures.
Other foods are found in OSECHI, such as KAMABOKO, DSHIMAKI-TMAGO,KONBU-MAKI. You prepared with an odd number of dishes because tradition says that you will become lucky of you do so.

 It is said that Japanese food is very healthy. That is probably because we can easily cook Japanese-style food without oil. Tofu, Soy-sauce and Miso are made from soybeans well known for containing many proteins.
 Moreover Japan has the four seasons. Therefore we can enjoy cooking and eating various foods every season.
 I often hear Sushi is also popular in Europe and United States. But we have many more kinds of food that non Japanese can enjoy. So I will introduce some recipes.
