When I saw the photographs of a herd of elephants by Peter Beard

which was said to be "the last herd of elephants on the earth" I was impelled to make this work.

I made twenty or so elephants in polyester resin in various sizes and photographed them together several times

in different arrangements. I made a herd by connecting these photographs.

This is a herd of "plastic land" elephants
which will exist even after the real elephant herd has disappeared from the earth.
