STERILIZATION AND CASTRATION SURGERY

■What is male castration surgery?

It is an operation to remove the testes (testicles) under general anesthesia.
The advantage of having surgery is that:

1.It can prevent diseases such as testicular cancer and perianal gland tumor.
2.May improve behavioral problems such as mounting, howling, and fighting with other dogs.

However, these effects diminish as you age. If you don't have a child, surgery can be performed from about 6 months after birth, and so we recommend early treatment.

■What is female sterilization?

It is an operation to remove the ovaries and uterus under general anesthesia. Depending on the hospital, only the ovaries or only the ovaries may be removed immediately, but at this hospital, both ovaries and uterus are removed to prevent illness. The advantages of surgery include:

1.Prevention on disease such as pyometra, endometritis, pseudopregnancy, and ovarian tumors.
2.It has also been reported that early surgery can reduce the risk of developing diseases such as breast tumors.

■Risk

There is a risk of general anesthesia in both castration and sterilization.
Therefore, in order to perform surgery in the healthiest possible condition, we recommend that you perform vaccination and blood tests before surgery.
