GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma is a disease in which the intraocular pressure rises due to the outflow of the aqueous humor from the anterior chamber being impaired.

■General Symptoms

・Increased intraocular pressure
・Congestion of the episclera(white eye part)
・Ocular swelling
・Corneal edema(Cornea may appear whitish and cloudy)
・Blindness(If you continue to have high intraocular pressure, you will lose sight)
                    ……etc.

■Easily Mistaken Diseases

It is important to note that the sclera may become red even in cases of conjunctivitis, keratitis, scleratitis and ophthalmitis.
In general, intraocular pressure does not increase during these diseases, so it is important to perform an examination with a tonometer.
