CHERRY EYE ( the 3rd eyelid gland portrudes)
|
This is a disease that congenitally lacks the connective conjunctival band
that should be contained in the third eyelid gland and the tissue surrounding
the cave, resulting in prominent disease.
Many dogs and cats are hereditary, and if left unchecked, inflammation
and hyperplasia of the third eyelid can be observed, resulting in enlargement,
conjunctivitis and tearing.
Treatment
In general,
1.Removal of the gland through surgery
2.There are two ways on how to reduce the line to its original position
without undergoing surgery.
However, the method of removing the glands reduces the amount of tears
produced after surgery and may cause keratoconjunctivits sicca (dry eye).
Except for special cases, our hospital does not remove the glands and reconstructs
them where they should be.
