I went to Morioka, Iwate Pref. to atted Annual Meeting of Jap. Soc. Forestry. Although there was snow under forest and road side, it was not so cold. I walked around a pond, Takamatsu no ike, the 29th morning. I watched about 100 of swans and snow crowned Mt. Iwate.
Place names in Kitakami area reminded me the Fujiwara clan and the Abe clan, Mr. Miyazawa Kenji who was a writer of fairy tales, "Tohno Monogatari" written by Mr. Yanagida a folklorist, so visiting Iwate was a good experience for me.

I and some of laboratory members joined vegetation monitoring on artificial slopes in Tango peninsula Resort Park. Our laboratory is studying revegetation techniques by soil seed bank. Soil seed bank is supposed to contain native species, and it is supposed to make it start second succession earlier.
We could also see the Sea of Japan and Amano-Hashidate (sandbar) from near study site.

Mt. Kongo is located on boundary of Osaka and Nara prefecture. The top of the mountain, 1125m, is the highest point in Osaka prefecture. We, members of the chair of university, went there to study wild plants and vegetation. I also enjoyed bird watching.

I and members of the lab. participated in the congress of Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture on Awaji island. Japan Flora (Flower EXPO) was held in Awaji island this summer. So we observed pavilions and gardens.
