スエーデンの鉱物学者、北極探検家ノルデンシェルド（1832-1901)による大西洋、

太平洋の北東航路を巡る航海記　5枚の肖像画,10枚の折込地図、本文中298の挿絵。

ノルデンシェルドは、1858年に北極を探検し、その後、数度にわたり極地の地質を調査、

さらにグリーンランドを探検、氷河を研究した。本書は1878年〜80年ヴェガ号で北東航路を

開拓した大西洋、太平洋をめぐる航海記。途中79年横浜に寄港、東京、江の島、浅間山、

	高崎、伊香保、草津、神戸、京都、京都、長崎など各地を訪れている。東京、横浜、京都の
	書店から購入した、約6000冊の古典籍は、スウェーデン王立図書館に寄贈されている。
