タイプ写真から彫版）と米国海軍蒸気フリゲート艦ミシシッピー号の挿絵を添えて全頁大で報

道している。"The Presence of a large and powerful fleet in the Eastern Seas …"

この報道の直後ペリー艦隊は5月26日に那覇沖に来航、首里城を訪問し7月11日琉米修好

条約を締結。サスケハナ号、ミシシッピー号、サラトガ号、プリマス号の四艦は7月8日浦賀沖に来航する。
