ロシアで最初の世界周航についての記録。石巻の漂流民４名を含むレザノフ対

日使節を伴なったクルーゼンシュテルン一行は1803年クロンシュタットを出航。ブラ

ジル、ホーン岬、サンドウィッチ諸島、カムチャツカに周航の後、長崎に来日。日

本海沿岸を測量調査し、蝦夷地の地理、アイヌなどを調査、さらにサハリン沿岸、

カムチャツカ、マカオを経由、喜望峰経由で1806年に帰国。この間、太平洋北西

部、日本、中国などの水路の測量、各国の政治、歴史、貿易の実態、北方少

	数民族の言語、風俗など豊富で多面的な学術調査を行った。
