the London Charivari was a British weekly magazine of humour & satire established

in 1841 by Henry Mayhew & engraver Ebenezer Landells. Bound in publisher's

original decorative blind-embossed brown cloth, with figure of Punch in gilt to front

board, & gilt lettering with Roman numerals to spine. 312pp + Almanack. 22pp.

Including articles & illustrations about "The Japanese Village at Knightsbridge

	(London)" (Jan. 24, Feb. 28, Mar.28, 1885).

た 週刊風刺漫画雑誌「パンチ」。大衆向けの伝統的人形芝居「パンチとジュディ」

の主人公、 過激な言動で知られたミスター・パンチの名前を冠して発行人に据え

ました。政治・社会を 風刺した漫画と記事を特徴としている。 本巻では1885年ロンドンで開催された「ロンドン日本人村」、

この年初演となったギルバート＆サリヴァン作のオペレッタ 「ザ・ミカド」に関する記事と挿絵が含まれる。
