This division presents the architecture of the core area of Islamic Architecture: the Middle East (West Asia). Yet as each territory often had an ancient civilization before Islam, on the base of which its Islamic architecture developed, this division treats this area's whole architecture under the title of "Architecture in the Mideast" without distinction of religion. The chapter of Jordan will include the State of Palestine and the whole of Jerusalem. |

Despite the name of this site being"Architecture of Islam", its contents have been considered not enough to cover the Islamic area totally. Now I have just made a new division here to enrich Islamic architecture in the central area of the Islamic sphere.
I will increase countries in due course, such as Iran, Turkey, and Egypt, all of which had ancient civilizations before Islam, and describe them in historical order like the chapter of Syria.
Uzbekistan, not belonging to the Middle East but Central Asia geographically, will also form one chapter, for its major architectural legacy was mainly made by architects and craftsmen brought from Iran (Persia). (September 01, 2019) ___ |
