The south side of the Royal Square, Isfahan, encircled by a row of
two storied shops. The central Pishtaq (gate) is the entrance to the Royal
Mosque, the worship hall of which is deviated in 45 degrees in the direction
of Makka, seeming as if it is situated on the far right side.

The Royal Square (Meidan-e Shah) in the age of Mme Dieulafoy's travel
