９７.Y字路の地蔵菩薩１〜旧阿佐ヶ谷村の中心〜

早稲田道り沿いに残された地蔵菩薩。
古い江戸時代の地図にもこのY字路は記されている。
建立されている石塔には元禄１０年（１６９７）の銘があり、少なくとも３００年前から
ここにあった訳だ。
右側の現在の早稲田道りは当時の所沢道、左側は天沼から青梅街道への旧道だと記されて
いる。
旧阿佐ヶ谷村時代はここが交通の要所であったのだろうね。

97.The Jizo Bodhisattva at the Y Junction: part 1
~ The center of the old Asagaya Village ~

There are several stone statues of Jizo along the Waseda Street. 
This Y junction is printed on the old map in Edo period. 
The stone monument is engraved with the inscription that says Genroku 10(1697), 
the name of the era. 
That indicates that they’ve been there for at least 300 years. 
On the right side of the stone, it is said that the Waseda Road nowadays was once
 called the Tokorozawa Road, and there was an old road from Amanuma to the Ome Road
 on the left side in those days. 
That means this was the key point for the traffic here in the old Asagaya 
Viallage’s time.
