７９.馬橋の聖域

馬橋稲荷神社３〜守護神のきつね〜

拝殿の両脇には一対ずつ狐の石像が守護神のように鎮座している。
赤い涎掛けがチャーミングだ。
かつてこの辺りにも本物の狐や狸がたくさん出没しているのだろう。
お稲荷様だから商売繁盛をお願いしようと思ったのだけれど
狐さんの顔を見ていると「戒めよ」と言われているようで妙な気分になってしまった。

79.Sanctuary in Mabashi
Mabashi Inari Shrine part 3:-The Gurdian Foxes-

A pair of stone foxes on both sides of the front shrine are enshrined as 
its guardians. Their red bibs are charming.
Probably, once foxes and raccoon dogs were seen frequently around here.
Since it's the shrine of Inari, I thought I'd pray that my business would 
be going well. But while I was looking at them, they seemed to admonish me 
about my prayer,　and that made me feel strange.
