６４.夏のセコイアの木

JR阿佐ヶ谷駅南口広場のセコイアの巨木は年々高さを増しているような感じ。
夏にはよい木陰にはなってくれるが
住み家にしているハトの糞が落ちてきて
ちょっと困る。
でも都内住宅街の駅前広場にこんな巨木が何本も林立しているのは
ここぐらいだろう。
たいていは噴水とか自転車置き場とかバスロータリーとか。
合理性よりも心の安らぎを優先させるのが
いかにも阿佐ヶ谷らしい。

64. Sequoia Trees in Summer

The big sequoia trees at the southern entrance open space of JR Asagaya
look to be getting taller and taller every year. 
They give us good shade in summer, but the trouble is　that the excrement of pigeons 
which live in the trees falls on us.  
But this space is one of the only　spaces where such big trees could stand in the station 
square of residential quarters in the　metropolitan area.
Usually, you'll find a fountain, a bicycle place, a bus rotary and so forth there instead 
of them.  
When the peacefulness of the heart is given greater priority than rationality, 
it is truly very　Asagaya.
