５７.桃園川緑道を行く（１）阿佐ヶ谷の北側を北西から南東に流れ下っていた桃園川。 JR中央線ガード下南側からは 桃園川緑道としてプロムナード化されている。 しばらくはここを散策してみよう。 プロムナード入り口にはカエルを彫刻したオブジェ ちょうど７匹が合唱しているポーズだ。 ここがスタートになる。 桃園川は阿佐ヶ谷の西、天沼の弁天池を水源として 東流していた河川であったが 今はすべて暗渠化され、そこに川があったことすら 忘れられているほどだ。
Momozono River, which flowed from northwest of the north part of Asagaya to southeast. From on the south of the Underpass of JR Tyuo Line, it is turned into a promenade as Momozono River Green Road. I’ll take a walk on this road for a while. At the promenade entrance, seven carven frogs are singing in chourus in a line. This is the start of the road. Momozono River was once a river that flowed to the east from Benten Pond, the head in Amanuma, west part of Asagaya. But nowadays since the river has undergone underdraining, it is forgotten as it was.
