３６.いにしえの釣り堀

駅南口、荻窪寄りにある釣り堀。
昔は天然の池だった。
最近、改修されて一時水を抜かれていたから
もう、昔の池とは無縁かもしれない。
そういった昔ながらの泉や池も埋め立てられ、
暗渠になり、時の彼方に忘れられていく。
その面影を残しているだけでも
貴重な存在かもしれないね。

36.Fishing Pond of Antiquity

At the side of Ogikugo, southern entrance of Asagaya station, 
there is a fish pond that was a natural pond a long time ago. 
Since it has been repaired and temporarily drained recently, 
it may no longer be the pond it used to be. 
With such springs and ponds of antiquity being reclaimed,
and becoming underdrains, they are left far from our memories
… 
It might be a precious existence that there’s a vestige of itself, 
even if not completely.
