| "Palace - Dance with the wind - " モンゴルの首都ウランバートルの郊外のナライハという炭坑の町で開催された展覧会。 ナライハは、かつてソ連の政策のもとで大きなモンゴルの国営石炭採掘会社により発展した町。しかし炭坑閉鎖後、その広大な敷地と建物は廃墟と化し、生活のために危険な状態で非公式に採掘を続ける人々（子供たちも含め）による多くの採掘所が点在し、社会問題となっている。 定住型の暮らしをする私たちにとって、遊牧を基調とする人々には驚かされる事が多い。チンギスハーンの墓がどこにあるのかも分からなければ、モンゴル人による文献も残されていないように、自身が生きていた証しを何か残そうとか、何かを積み上げていこうとかという概念はないように感じる。その日に会った人は次に何時会えるかなど気にせずに、一期一会とその時を楽しんでいる。暮らしは貧しくとも、人々はピュアで明るくたくましく、家族の結束も強い。この国では、かつての栄光もプロジェクトも人々の暮らしも約束も思いも何もかもが、ただ草原に吹く強い風に舞い飛んでいくような印象を覚える。 On the outskirts of Ulaan Baatar, in the district of Nalaikh, hundreds of small, unofficial coal mines operate daily. During Soviet rule, Nalaikh was mined by a large Mongolian mining company that shut down after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The impoverished locals since have moved into the abandoned mine sites and spend their days working with picks and shovels to collect the remaining coal for income. The miners face extremely dangerous working conditions in mines that do not have wall supports and proper safety equipment. |
